The 'who' is Ian Chares Pain in conjunction with other musicians who have been creating a smogersboard of expertly baked musical delights for your personal pleasure.
So to some history
Ian grew up in Southampton UK with 7 older siblings so was exposed to a large variety of music mostly of a generation older than his contemporaries. First lovs were The Beatles, Buddy Holly and 10cc moving in his teens to prog rock with Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant and Pink Floyd. He then had a road to Damascus moment when listening to DJ John Peel playing Teenage Kicks by The Undertones followed by Alternative Ulster by Stiff Little Fingers. Suddenly he 'got it' and became obsessed with various bands and artists ranging from Ian Dury and the Blockheads to The Stranglers and The Vapors. Through the years he has had phases on a wide variety of music to become someone with a very broad and knowledgeable experience of music in all it's forms.
So to being a musician and a songwriter. As a teenager there was always a guitar lying around at home and he gradually picked it up and learned a few chords. Then at 6th form he started to get together with other guitar players share each new learning experience andforming a band in the church youth group. At this point he started writing songs and performed them with 2 friends in the church hall.
Then off to University in London and playing in the school bar and with friends along with koining a punk band called Sarah Scrotum and the Alternative Hemmarroids.
After University he played in various acoustic duos singing and playing acoustic guitar most notably with Robin Gillan in Moby Dick in pubs and folk clubs around North London
He also started to get interested in home recording and bought his first cassette 4 track. After making some rough demos at home he hired a studio in Barnet run by Steve Broughton of Edgar Broughton Band fame, and recorded 3 songs with various friends helping the project come together in particular Phil Lonegan, Robin Gillan and Ted Huber. The resulting recordings under the title 'Doh' by The Trees did get some radio play in Ireland and on local radio in the UK
Next stop musically was Japan where e spent 15 years on and off. In Japan he played in a cover duo with his friend Seichi Kanea playing in pensions and bars in the mountains of Nagano. Alongside this he played bass in punky band The Dugunder Brothers and having learnt how to programme drums on his computer using a keyboard he then found he could play real drums to a basic level and so swapped roles around with the bands drummer. They played bars, festivals and even curated their own festival up at the log house Ian was living in.
He also played drums with Steampnk Unicorn and fronted his own band Retro HardDrive.
On returning to the UK in 2015 he continued writing and recording demos and tried various local studios with various levels of success but not really getting to a place where he felt he had something ready to release.
Now with the support and skill of HP Studios in Ringwood he is finally ready for the proper release of his first single 'Rize Up'.

Rize Up
Rize Up is a call to stand up for your rights, a call for peace and a call for a better world.
A while ago I was offered a 1 month demo of an orchestra and decided to try writing a punk/new wave song but including orchestral sounds. The result was 'Rise Up' later changed to 'Rize Up' with a 'z' as a tribute to Slade who always changed their 's' to 'z'
After various versions and being played live we have finally come up with a version that is ready for release.
I hope you like it and sing it at your protest marches.
